Big Bang week

It's Big Bang week in the library, to coincide with the start of the experiment in Switzerland on Wednesday when scientists will try to recreate the aftermath of the Big Bang so that they can learn more about the origins of the universe. We've got books on the Big Bang and the universe on display, our fiction author of the week is Douglas Adams who wrote Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy and our poem of the week is Big Bang by Valerie Bloom.

For more information on the experiment have a look at the CERN website. http://public.web.cern.ch/Public/Welcome.html

Radio 4 is broadcasting several programmes about the Big Bang and particle physics on Wednesday. You can listen to them through the BBC website or download the podcasts.
